Rafflesia arnoldii are obligate parasites of plants known for having very large flowers, even the largest flower
in the world. He grew up in vines network (liana) Tetrastigma and do not have leaves that can not photosynthesize. Naming
giant flowers are not removed by the first time in the history of its
discovery in 1818 in the tropical forests of Bengkulu (Sumatra)
somewhere near the river Manna, Lubuk But, South Bengkulu, so Bengkulu
known worldwide as The Land of Rafflesia or Earth Rafflesia. A guide who works at Dr. Joseph Arnold who discovered a giant flower was first. Dr. Joseph Arnold itself when it is participating in the expedition led by Thomas Stamford Raffles. So
naming arnoldii Rafflesia flower is based on a combination of Thomas
Stamford Raffles name as the leader of the expedition and Dr. Joseph Arnold as the inventor of interest. This plant is endemic to the island of Sumatra, especially the southern part (Bengkulu, Jambi and South Sumatra). Kerinci National Park is an area of key conservation of this species
